Dump Cake...

I just got Makenzy off to bed and now I am making a new dessert for a carry in at work tomorrow. I thought I would share the recipe. (The recipe comes from The Pioneer Woman here):

Dump Cake:

Ingredients:
1 can cherry pie filling (24 oz)
1 can crushed pineapple (24 oz)
1 box yellow or white cake mix
1 stick of margarine (cut into 8 equal pads)
1/2 stick of butter (cut into 4 equal pads)
Whipped cream

Directions:
Dump cherry pie filling and crushed pineapple into 9X13 baking dish. Stir together.

Sprinkle cake mix evenly over the top of the fruit. Slice margarine and butter and distribute evenly over the surface of the cake mix.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour. spoon into bowls and put a dollop of whipped cream on top. (You can even whip your own cream if that tickles your fancy!)

I make a similar Dump Cake. I love Pioneer Woman. I hope your lunch at work was yummy!

I love Dump Cake! I've never had it with whipped cream, but now I'm going to try it.

At your suggestion I made Dump Cake last weekend. I used 2 cans of peaches instead...I am not much of a cherry fan. My husband said 'wow, this is the best dessert'! He went on to say he thought it was restaurant quality. I did make whip topping for the first time also :)
Thanks!

I'm so glad you liked it Heather! I'll have to try peaches - my husband isn't a huge cherry fan either.

If you try it with the peaches... I read on the PW site that you can cut back on the butter because of the juice. I used 1 stick of butter. I drained one can of peaches completely and about half of the other can. Hope you like it :)
